Winter tires or chains are required on most routes in British Columbia from October 1 to April 30. For select highways not located through mountain passes and/or high snowfall areas, tire and chain requirements end March 31.
Not only is this a requirement set out by the ‘powers that be’; it is also an important safety measure to take to ensure your vehicle is able to manage the variable road conditions and colder temperatures ahead.
We can fully understand that this extended summer weather might have lulled people into forgetting about the mountain pass winter tire rules, but we are here to encourage our community to plan ahead for their tire installations.
