4 Ways to Winterize Your Vehicle: CJ Auto Repair Can Help!

The snow is here in the Lower Mainland, and with it – the need to winterize your vehicle. Which is something CJ Auto Repair can help our community with!

4 Ways to Winterize Your Vehicle

Winter driving conditions are already a lot to navigate without your vehicle causing you concerns too. Helping to ensure your vehicle is up for the challenge involves a variety of services. This includes…

Preventative Maintenance

As described on our preventative maintenance page…

The most common scheduled maintenance item is an engine oil change. One of the simplest, most effective and inexpensive ways to help protect the life of your car, especially its engine, is to change the oil and oil filter regularly. Oil is the lifeblood of your engine. It reduces friction, lessens wear, provides lubrication, forms a seal between the pistons, rings and cylinder walls while helping to cool engine parts.

During a typical Lube/Oil/Filter job, we include a visual check of the following items:

  • Engine air filter
  • Brake fluid
  • Power steering fluid
  • Automatic transmission fluid
  • Coolant/antifreeze

Scheduling preventative maintenance is especially important as the seasons change. Within these checks, areas such as your battery, brakes, belts, hoses, spark plugs, wires and cables will be checked also.

2. Winter Tire Changeover

If you haven’t done so yet, now is the time to schedule your winter tire changeover. Click here to learn more about how our Surrey winter tire services can help with that.

3. Vehicle Winter Safety Kit

We tend to have a sense that ‘nothing bad is going to happen’. However, we should always be prepared for the unexpected. Packing a winter safety kit is a simple measure that could literally mean the difference between life and death. Amazon offers a variety of them – as seen here.

4. Filling Your Tank Above the Halfway Mark

This one might sound odd, but keeping your gas tank at least half full matters in the winter. As discussed on the CBC website

Scientist say the gas won’t freeze, but if condensation forms in your tank, the water will. The water will freeze, and then you get ice crystals that can get into the fuel line and it will slow the flow and your car will sputter, or worse you can even block the fuel line.

These small winterizing measures can make a massive difference, and CJ Auto Repairs can provide you with all of your scheduled maintenance!
